How to Care for Your Cabinets

To ensure that your cabinets remain as beautiful they are when first installed, please follow these recommended guidelines for care:

  1. Shelves, drawers and cabinet interiors are constructed of melamine. They can be cleaned with a damp cloth using a mild detergent such as dishwashing soap, 409 spray cleaner, etc. Wipe up spills immediately. Caution: Do not drench the melamine with any liquid as it will cause peeling and/or cracking and will void your warranty.
  2. The solid wood fronts of your cabinets can be cared for as you would your fine furniture. Wood polish for dusting and wood cleaning detergents (e.g., Pledge, Endust, etc.) may be used. The coating on your cabinets is a conversion varnish, giving the wood a hard, durable finish. However, to give this finish the longest possible life, wipe off spills immediately.

Our Warranty

This warranty is based on Wood Whims’ company policy and the Cabinets & Vanities section of the Arizona Registrar of Contractors.

  • Color

    It should be noted that it is not unusual for the color of installed cabinets to be slightly different from the sample shown at the time of selection. Color can differ with wood grain variations, lighting and stain lots. However, any excessive color variation is warranted with your builder and with us. Any dispute of stain color should be claimed within 7 days of delivery.

  • Parts

    Doors, drawers and other operation parts should function properly:

    1. Operating hardware will be repaired, adjusted or replaced as required within the first year of installation based on normal use of hardware.
    2. Dents, scratches, damages to cabinet doors and drawer fronts should be reported on a punch list. After repairs have been made, we warrant only the operating parts of the cabinets.
    3. Claims for shortages or damage must be made within 7 days following move-in.
    4. Regarding cabinet doors, a warp of 1/8 inch in 30 inches of height is considered acceptable. Any doors over 38 inches in height or 23 inches in width will not be guaranteed against warping.

  • Wood Materials

    At Wood Whims, we take pride in using only top quality wood materials in the manufacture of our cabinet fronts. However, we must stipulate that wood, as a product of Nature, varies from one piece to another. Each piece of wood has its own characteristics. We cannot guarantee that the grain pattern or natural color of the wood will match all pieces in a unit or project. These variations must be accepted as a unique feature and natural beauty of the wood, and not as a defect.

  • Repairs

    Wood Whims wants you to enjoy your cabinets for years to come. If any part requires adjustment or replacement, please call us at (480) 837-1458. Before any work is done, we will advise you if the work is covered under our warranty, or provide you with an estimate of charges for parts and labor. We will, of course, do our very best to schedule a timely repair.
